CEO Message to Dreamr

Every year I write a message to all our Dreamrs to talk about the great things that have happened throughout the year. 2016 is no different; it’s just taking me longer and longer each year. This year we’re joined by some amazing people, Xav, Seb, Alba, Mailen, Harry, TomL, and Nathan. That’s a lot of new faces for one year and when hiring new Dreamr’s they face a huge challenge with getting a job. Not only do they need to be passionate and open to change, a lot of the time I get a feeling when someone is the right person, and I got that same feeling with our new faces. Sebastian who joins us from an entrepreneur background, but also as a model (apparently) and I’ve seen such a huge commitment from him in the six months here already; his role is pinnacle to Dreamr, and his hard work is shown in the wonderful clients we’ve had recently. Ed has had a tremendous year working throughout multiple ups and downs, while coaching Annie and providing support to the entire company. A rock to the iOS team, his knowledge has proved invaluable and I appreciate this dedication year on year

Corner  –  World first digital boxing trainer - Mylo Kaye

Corner is the first complete boxing performance tracker. It comprises a complete Internet of Things (IoT) solution which uses unobtrusive wrist-worn sensors, fitting underneath the boxing gloves. Dreamr’s app design and development team worked closely with clients Athletec through each stage of this innovative and cutting-edge project. Historically, in order to understand the quality of their performance, combat athletes have had no alternative but to rely on expensive video playback, with many cameras required to provide an adequate assessment. The high cost and setup requirements have meant that this technology has been far out-of-reach for the vast majority of gyms and athletes. Coach driven assessment to remember accurately every detail of a session is both unrealistic and ultimately imprecise. The English Institute of Sport reports coaches and athletes only recall 30% of performance correctly. In the sporting world where even tiny incremental nuances in performance can mean the difference between winning and losing, Corner has been designed to revolutionise this process. An onboard microprocessor determines key statistics from every punch thrown by a boxer, whether it be jab or a strong right hook, and delivers the feedback via Bluetooth to a smartphone app for both display and storage over time.

Dreamr tackles Manchester’s hidden homeless

The recently featured article in the Manchester Evening News celebrated the work of Simply Be, Jacamo and Jack & Jones, Boohoo and, of course, my app development agency, Dreamr. Supported by Hollyoaks stars Jazmine Franks and Ashley Taylor Dawson, the latest Mustard Tree campaign to raise money for the Manchester homelessness brought in £70,000 worth of clothes to be modeled and sold at Ziferblat on Saturday, February 13 February. Collecting donations for Mustard Tree and supporting the homeless in Manchester, Dreamr Head of Business and Head of Aspiration, Jack & Lynne worked relentlessly to call upon Dreamr clients and associates to help reach the impressive £70,000 total. Mylo Kaye, Dreamr Co-Founder said, “I’m proud of not only our customers but the Dreamr team who pulled out all the stops in ensuring the Mustard Tree charity received a huge donation. Dreamr’s dedication to supporting local causes has meant our clients such as Sole Supplier, Cameo Launch also contributed. This will make an enormous difference to the ever growing issue of homelessness in Manchester, which year on year increases, despite Council budget cuts.”

Four day week and why you should adopt it

Four day week, is it productive? Four day week, what is it? When I started out in business a few years ago, I wanted teams of people working as much as possible to get more done. Unfourtnetly you can only get so much out of one person, never mind my 13 staff. Henry Ford first proposed the idea of a 8 hour day back in the 1900’s, his staff typically worked around 14 hours a day. He found, however that by working fewer hours, his staff were more focused and more productive. In 1926, Ford Motor company became one of the first businesses in the world to adopt a five-day, 40 hour week. Today, it’s the norm. An article in the New York Times times by CEO James Fried reported that his were more productive, healthier and motivated by working four days a week. With less time to work, there was less time to waste. They were more focused and determined at getting the job done. Dreamr in Manchester at Digital Skills Festival

Dreamr in Manchester visits Skills Fest Every year my team spends countless days and weeks preparing for the Digital Skills Festival Talent Day. Last year they created a huge box structure from cardboard boxes, stuck our faces to it and massive words; ‘Think Outside the Box”. It attracted lots of attention from visitors, students and other companies exhibiting. It was totally different from every other stand there and made us look pretty damn cool. Dreamr Manchester Mylo Kaye. Mylo Kaye is the co-founder of Dreamr Manchester, a digital design & development agency. Mylo is a strategic thinker, designer & creative director with an eye for pixel perfection. In my role at Dreamr in Manchester, I’m focused on B2B Creative Direction, leading a team of 10 designers and developers. Successes included creating an internal corporate website for Equate in the Middle East that generated enormous buzz and that went on to win numerous design and development awards in 2014. Previous experience includes launching two digital magazines; Communicate & Transform. Recently I lead the design and development of the Bluewater website that launched in Las Vegas in April 2015.
